Since 1981 Georges Court Shopping Centre has offered shoppers a new and modern shopping experience in Waterford. In 2002, the Centre was substantially redeveloped and modernised and now features bright vibrant malls, which interlink the city’s main pedestrian thoroughfares and public parking areas. The centre’s striking design, modern lighting and innovative use of materials such as marble & architectural steel creates a bright cosmopolitan ambience for shoppers.
Waterford City is the capital of the South East Region. In addition to attracting increasing numbers of shoppers from the surrounding counties, Waterford City’s strategic gateway position between Rosslare Port and the West of Ireland has secured the city’s position as the location of choice within the South East for leading international and national retailers.
George’s Court Shopping Centre is located at the heart of Waterford City’s busiest retail thoroughfares. Its prominent position fronting Barronstrand Street, John Roberts Square, Georges Street and Meagher’s Quay, ensures a consistently high level of pedestrian footfall. This area has undergone major improvements, winning national awards for its innovative streetscape design using granite paving, contemporary lighting and public realm art architecture.
The central court area has seating for customers and is also available for pop-up shops and charitable organisations to utilise for fundraising and/or awareness.
